The process for registering your foreign vehicle to Spanish registration is not a difficult or lengthy process if you have the right professional help which we at CAR REG SPAIN can offer.

Once you have decided to re-register your vehicle or whether you wish to discuss the alternatives, please contact us and we can give you all the advice needed along with costs for the re-registration process.

In order to ascertain the the total costs we need to collate certain details about your vehicle and your resident status in Spain. You will be required to hold certain legal paperwork such as a registration document for the vehicle, Original NIE certificate or residencia card, Original padron certificate (which may be obtained from your local town hall, but please contact us before you do this) and a valid passport or Notary copy of your passport.

We can source headlamps if required and will fit these for you from one of our allied national service centres. If you have any other concerns about whether your vehicle is roadworthy for the ITV (MOT) then we can organise a PRE-ITV inspection for you (we highly recommend you do this)

However, if you would like us to carry out the practical part of the ITV on your behalf then this can also be arranged. This part of the process usually takes one morning. However if you are leaving Spain and wish for us to hold your vehicle until your return, then a secure storage area is used which you will be shown, so that you can be happy your vehicle is being well looked after whilst you are away.

All legal paperwork is handled personally by Car Reg Spain and we are proud to say that we do not use any third party companies for this. Visits to the Spanish tax office and Traffic office are made on behalf of the clients and we also settle the road tax for the vehicle and order the Spanish number plates once the new Spanish registration document has been released.

The new number plates can be fitted to the vehicle if required, this can be arranged once the insurance has been changed over to the new Spanish registration. We can also assist you with the insurance by obtaining quotations on your behalf or can supply you with a list of English speaking companies and contact numbers.

All documentation including the new Spanish registration document is returned to you once the process is complete.

We aim to complete each vehicle registration within 7 working days and often the process can be completed within 4 working days. It is important to inform us if you intend to leave Spain whilst the process is being carried out so that the necessary paperwork can be completed on your behalf.

If you wish to apply for Spanish residencia at the same time as registering your vehicle then this can be arranged free of charge for the owner of the vehicle with a small fee for any other family members.
